Trip to Boston

My brother Mark qualified to run the Boston marathon at the Top of Utah Logan marathon and wasn't going to run the race since he didn't have anyone to go with.  So, being the supportive sister I am I volunteered for the trip.  I am supportive, but it was also an excuse for me to leave the boys with Dan for five glorious days of freedom, so kudos to Dan as well. :)  This is the picture of Mark finishing the race.  He put his name on the front of his jersey and about 2 feet tall on the back, so for the 26.2 miles he had people cheering for him.
We were able to do site seeing for a few days before the race.  This is Paul Revere's house.  We were lucky enough to be there for the 100 year celebration of the house being a museum, so we got in at the 1908 entry fee of 25 cents. This is the North Church where they lantern that told Paul Revere that he should ride and warn Lexington and Concord.  "One if by land and two if by sea and I on the opposite shore will be"  anyone remember Henry Wadsworth Longfellows poem?
This is inside the hull of the USS Constitution aka Iron Sides.  Apparently they didn't hire 6'5" men two hundred years ago because Mark was stooped over.
Another picture along the Freedom Trail.
We were able to watch the womens' Olympic time trials.  This is the lead pack with Deena Kastor who came in 2nd at the last Olympics.  She won and will being going to Beijing.  All these women had to qualify with a time of two hours 48 minutes.
At the runners expo we met "Team Hoyt"  The son has cerebral palsy and his Dad pushes him for the entire race.  They've also competed in the Iron Man Triathalon.  Here's a link to a video about them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4B-r8KJhlE&feature=related

MIT.  Other than "mickey's toon town building" the campus was mainly a bunch of cement buildings, but they did have a cool museum. We went on a tour of Harvard.  This dining hall is modeled after a university in England which is the template for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies.
We ate lunch at the Cheers bar.  Here's a funny clip from the TV show.

Dan has five days off each month with his schedule, so he was able to stay home with the boys. Hurray for Dan!!

That's so great that you went with Mark so he could run! I would hate to think that he qualified for the Boston Marathon and then didn't run it. What fun pictures too...thanks for sharing.
